The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor to begin Fall 2026. Teaching professors compose the core of the department’s full-time teaching faculty team, and play a fundamental role in the department’s educational mission. The initial appointment is for a term of three years, with contract renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach a wide range of applied mathematics and statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, including large lower-division classes (between 90-150 students for Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, and Differential Equations/Linear Algebra). Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in statistics and data science, including experience with curriculum development in those areas. The ideal candidate will collaborate with others to support the department’s BA and new BS in Statistics and Data Science. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating multi-section courses, supervising teaching assistants, serving on departmental committees, supporting growth in the department’s statistics and data science degree offerings, and advising undergraduate and professional master’s students. The teaching requirement for this appointment is 5 semester courses per academic year. As part of the service commitment, the individual may be asked to: coordinate multi-section courses; develop curricula and pedagogical techniques; assist in the administration of the department’s professional master’s degree; and/or advise undergraduate or professional master’s students. The salary range for this position is $80,000-$86,000 annually. One time payment of up to $10,000 moving allowance to qualified candidates. One time payment of an additional $5,000 for onboarding allowance. This 75%, 9-month position is common for Department of Applied Mathematics teaching faculty who teach 5 courses per academic year. Required qualifications include a PhD in the Mathematical Sciences, or a closely related field and experience in teaching at the University level.
