The Department of Mathematics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one nine-month, tenure track assistant professor anticipated to begin August 2022.

A doctorate in Mathematics from an accredited institution by the time of application is required. In addition, the successful applicant is expected to have evidence of strong research, and to show evidence that they can teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels and can supervise graduate and undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates who have postdoctoral research experience, have strong potential for external funding, and demonstrate dedication and commitment to teaching.

The ideal candidate will have an active research program in mathematics with strong interests in interdisciplinary research in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Sciences. We are especially interested in a mathematician who has worked in areas such as computational topology, computational number theory, combinatorial optimization, coding theory, and quantum computing. A successful candidate will be an individual who can contribute through their research, teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

The Department of Mathematics at UCF offers a full range of mathematics courses for its B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs, in addition to providing service courses for the university’s general education program and STEM majors. The faculty carries out active research projects funded by various funding agencies.
