The Mathematics Department invites applicants for one MURI Postdoctoral Fellow position. The appointment will begin in August 2021. The initial appointment is for one year with a very likely renewal for the second year and a possible renewal for the third year. Candidates are expected to have received a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, or related field by Sept. 1, 2021, and not earlier than 2018, and show definite promise in research and teaching. The teaching load is expected to be one course per semester. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with Prof. Maria Cameron on a project related to the development of numerical methods for the study of rare events in stochastic systems and/or on applications of these methods to problems arising in chemical physics, biophysics, biology, and engineering. Strong background in scientific computing, probability, and in at least one application area is required. Applicants are asked to submit (a) Cover Letter; (b) CV; (c) Research Statement; (d) Teaching Statement, and have at least four letters of recommendation, including one which evaluates teaching.
