Summer 2012 Research Experience For Undergraduates

Our 10th annual REU program in combinatorics will be held in the summer of 2012,at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
We expect at least 5-7 participants to spend 8 weeks in residence sometime between May 28, 2012 and August 3, 2012.
Exact dates will be determined later.
Research topics are not yet been determined, but one can get a sense of potential subjects from the previous REU reports

Application materials:
- AMS cover sheet, ignoring "current title/dates", "highest degree/institution/dates", "PhD advisor", "recent titles/dates/organization", "also consider for/temporary"
- a list of undergraduate math courses taken or in progress, with course grades indicated; this does not need to be an official transcript.
- 2 letters of recommendation
- a brief statement of interest in the program
- citizenship/green-card/visas statues: indicate whether you are a US citizen or green card holder,
and if neither, indicate your citizenship and US visa status

To participate, students must have not yet completed their undergraduate degree by summer 2012. Students who are US citizens or green card holders will receive a stipend of $4000, from which room and board expenses for dormitory and meal plan are deducted if they live in the dormitory. The $4000 stipend will also include all travel reimbursement.
Non-citizens may still apply, and can be reimbursed for University dorm room and meal plan costs, as well as reasonable travel expenses up to $700 (reimbursement to and from your home institution or your residence within the United States)
