We have funding for a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. The position will start in August 2021. We are seeking an individual with a PhD in mathematics or applied mathematics and a strong background in the theory and applications of reaction-diffusion-advection systems, integro-difference models, and related models in spatial ecology. We are especially interested in individuals with strong computational skills. The position will entail working with Chris Cosner, Robert Stephen Cantrell, and our collaborators on various problems related to mathematical models for the evolutionary ecology of dispersal traits. Specifically, we are interested in using reaction-advection-diffusion systems and integro-difference models to gain insight into the effects and evolution of traits that mediate dispersal behavior in spatially and temporally varying environments. The work will involve modeling, mathematical analysis, and numerical analysis. Formal review of applications will begin March 22, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled. Applications should be submitted electronically through the AMS website www.mathjobs.org. Letters of recommendation, at least three of which should address research and one of which should address teaching, may be submitted online at www.mathjobs.org or mailed to: Search Committee, Department of Mathematics, University of Miami, P.O. Box 249085, Coral Gables, FL 33124-4250. For additional information please contact Dr. Chris Cosner at C.Cosner@math.miami.edu or Dr. Robert Stephen Cantrell at rsc@math.miami.edu.
