Postdoctoral Faculty Position Department of Mathematics University of Nebraska-Lincoln The Department of Mathematics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a three-year, non-tenure track postdoctoral faculty position in Data Science, starting in August 2026. The postdoctoral faculty in Data Science will support research in this fast growing field, and in particular, the research program of Assistant Professor Shiying Li. Responsibilities include conducting research in mathematical data science, as well as in closely related areas of applied or computational mathematics; disseminating results at national and international conferences; organizing and participating in departmental seminars; teaching two (2) courses per academic year; and contributing service to the department, including supporting student activities and assisting with the Summer Data Science camp. Required Qualifications A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a closely related field is required. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with strong research potential in mathematical data science or applied/computational mathematics, with the ability to connect theory, computation, and applications. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, optimal transport, mathematical modeling, machine learning, and applications to biological or other complex data.
