The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences [R0149556]. 

Assistant Professor with a specialization in Algebra or closely related areas, commencing Fall 2026

ROLE of the POSITION 
This position is tenure-track and holds a 9-month academic obligation. The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, publish in refereed research journals, pursue external funding, and supervise graduate students. In addition, the candidate is expected to provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds and with diverse life experiences and learning styles. 

PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT 
The Department of Mathematical Sciences currently has 27 regular faculty members and over 50 graduate students. It offers BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mathematical Sciences. The Department is part of the College of Sciences, which also includes the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Geoscience, and Life Sciences. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
This position requires a Ph. D. in the Mathematical Sciences with a demonstrated expertise in Algebra or closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
