The University of Richmond Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for two tenure-track positions in mathematics at the level of assistant professor to begin August 2024. A doctoral degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics must be completed prior to the start date. The department welcomes applicants from a variety of fields within mathematics. We are especially interested in candidates who are prepared to teach and advance our core mathematics major, which includes classes in abstract algebra and real analysis, and/or candidates who are prepared to support our mathematical economics major (https://math.richmond.edu/academics/mathecon/index.html). The successful applicant is expected to commit to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum and to maintain a vigorous research program that has the potential to engage undergraduates in meaningful research outcomes. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a vibrant program that equips students with theoretical and computational skills for success in many areas of employment, graduate school, and other post-graduation opportunities. The department aims to make mathematics accessible to all students and seeks colleagues who share these goals of broadening access to STEM disciplines in general, and mathematics in particular.
