The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences (SDS) at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for multiple professional-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Instruction. SDS is the newest and fastest‑growing department in the College of Natural Sciences and is dedicated to delivering high‑quality, innovative education in statistics and data science across the university. Our programs include an undergraduate major and minor in Statistics and Data Science, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Statistics, an undergraduate certificate in Applied Statistical Modeling, and an online M.S. in Data Science offered in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science. SDS is internationally recognized for excellence in statistical methodology and theory, applied statistics, data science, biostatistics, and machine learning.The department currently has 25 tenured/tenure-track and 9 professional-track faculty members. While professional-track faculty are not eligible for tenure, we hire with the intent that all new faculty will build lasting careers as part of our community. The department is committed to investing in the professional growth of all of our faculty.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline by August 2026. We especially welcome applicants with teaching experience or professional practice as a statistician, biostatistician, or data scientist; these experiences are valued but not required.
