The Department of Mathematics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, invites applications for two Whyburn Research Associate and Lecturer postdoctoral positions. The successful candidates will be expected to conduct their own research, under supervision of a faculty mentor, and teach three courses per year. The appointment begins with the fall term of 2023, with an anticipated start date of August 22, 2023.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by the start date. Applicants must present evidence of outstanding accomplishments and promise in both research and teaching. All candidates whose research interests complement the strengths of the department's current faculty will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants in Operator Algebras and Functional Analysis, Topology, and Number Theory, but opportunities will be given to all fields. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have received their Ph.D. within the last three years.

All positions carry an initial appointment of one year, renewable for two additional years, contingent on satisfactory performance.
