POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN ACTUARIAL SCIENCE, STATISTICS

OR QUANTITATIVE FINANCE

 

One or more postdoctoral fellow positions in Actuarial Science, Statistics or Quantitative Finance are currently available in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work with Professor Ruodu Wang on one (or more) of the following areas:

1) Mathematical and statistical methods for risk management

2) Statistical theory and selective inference with e-values

3) Decision theory, insurance, and financial economics

A postdoc appointment is typically either one or two years. Teaching is not mandatory for this position, but the postdoctoral fellow may have the opportunity to teach (with compensation) no more than one course in Actuarial Science or Statistics per academic year based on teaching qualifications and department needs.

The starting date of the positions is flexible, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in Actuarial Science, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Mathematical Economics, or a related area. Existing experience in the mentioned research areas is a plus. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible subject to completing PhD by the anticipated starting time.
