As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer and AI-Assisted Mathematics at the University of Melbourne, you'll have the opportunity to lead groundbreaking research in modern computational approaches for pure mathematics and mathematical physics. You'll develop and maintain a high-level research program, teach mathematics to diverse audiences, and supervise research students at all levels. This role offers you the chance to collaborate with researchers across various disciplines and make significant contributions to your field.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conduct Innovative Research: Lead research projects, publish in top-quality outlets, and secure external research grants in computational mathematics.
Deliver Excellence in Teaching: Develop and deliver engaging lectures, supervise postgraduate students, and contribute to curriculum development.
Foster Collaboration and Engagement: Participate in research seminars, build international research links, and contribute to public awareness of mathematical developments.
Provide Academic Leadership: Undertake administrative functions, participate in school committees, and contribute to the academic affairs of the School.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an accomplished mathematician with expertise in modern computational approaches, demonstrating research excellence, teaching ability, and a commitment to advancing the field through innovative methods and collaborations.
You may also:
Hold a PhD in mathematics or a closely related discipline.
Have a strong publication record in top-quality outlets in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or mathematical physics.
Possess expertise in modern computational methods such as machine learning or automated proof systems.
Demonstrate the ability to secure research funding and develop international research links.
Excel in teaching mathematics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Have experience or potential in supervising graduate students.
Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
