Position Description

The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington announces the availability of a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in September 2024. Candidates with expertise in one or more areas of applied mathematics are encouraged to apply. The department is seeking candidates that complement the current research strengths of the department (in no particular order) in data science, scientific computing and numerical analysis, nonlinear waves and coherent structures, mathematical biology, atmospheric science and climate modeling, applied analysis, stochastic modeling, mathematical finance, and optimization, or bring in new areas of expertise. The department is also seeking candidates who will continue its long tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration. See http://depts.washington.edu/amath/ for more details. These positions hold a 9-month service term (September 16 through June 15 each year) and are full-time (100% FTE). 

Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position is $11,111.11 - $15,000 per month on a 9-month basis ($100,000-$135,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. 

Qualifications 
Applicants should hold a PhD, or foreign equivalent, in (applied) mathematics or a related field of application by the start of the appointment. Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of research in a relevant area of applied mathematics.
