Job Description:

Art of Problem Solving Academy ( is an after-school academic math and language arts training academy that caters to advanced students. Every year the Art of Problem Solving book series and website ( trains many of the very best math students from around the world, including our own United States International Math Olympiad team.

As our Campus Director in San Diego, CA, you will supervise a dedicated staff of teaching professionals, meet with parents and students, represent AoPS Academy at community events, and teach a few core elementary and middle school math classes filled with outstanding students.

Job Duties:

  • Hire and supervise teaching staff
  • Meet and greet with parents and current/potential students, provide information about our program, and resolve any questions or concerns
  • Work with the Community Outreach Coordinator to increase AoPS Academy‚Äôs profile in the local community and act as liaison at public events
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Academy in coordination with the national office
  • Teach a few elementary mathematics courses as needed
  • Oversee small classes (average size 12) consisting of top-performing elementary, middle, and high school students who are passionate about math and motivated to succeed
  • Work in a flexible, family-friendly company with a strong sense of mission
  • Collaborate with the National AoPS Office to refine AoPS Academy offerings


The ideal applicant has experience working at a management level, preferably in a role that involves working with parents and students. The ability to teach math up through at least a middle school level is required. Strong interpersonal skills both in writing and face-to-face are a must, as the job requires a great deal of internal and external communication.
