Position Description:

Applications are invited for one or more postdoctoral fellow positions on (1) computational modeling and simulation of species transport within complex biological fluids and the active transport of such fluids and/or (2) high-order numerical methods for fluid-structure interaction involving complex biological fluids. The primary positions will be in the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The faculty mentors will be some combination of Greg Forest and Boyce Griffith in Mathematics, and Samuel Lai in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Additional mentors are possible depending on the specific research projects. One year (12 month) appointments may begin any time, starting immediately. The positions are renewable for one or two years based on satisfactory performance and continued availability of funding. If desired, applicants with the requisite teaching experience will be considered for a teaching assignment in Mathematics.

Candidates should have received a doctorate in mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, engineering, or a closely related field.

Candidates should have an established interest in biological modeling and simulation, or a strong interest to learn these areas. Applicants who focus on modeling complex biological fluids should also be interested in actively collaborating with experimentalists.
