Applications are invited for two tenure-track positions in Statistics at the assistant professor level beginning July 2018. Hiring at the associate professor level may be considered. Applicants from all areas of statistics are welcomed, but for one of the positions applicants from statistical learning, high dimensional data analysis or related areas are especially encouraged. We seek highly qualified candidates who have a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, and a desire to mentor student research. A Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related area is required. The department has nineteen tenure-track faculty, three teaching professionals and four teacher-scholar postdocs. The department offers both a B.A. and a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.A. and a B.S. in Mathematical Statistics, a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Mathematics, and a B.S. in each of Mathematical Business and Mathematical Economics. The department has a graduate program offering an M.A. with a track in each of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. The (untenured) tenure-track teaching load is two courses per semester. A complete application will include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. The letter of application should explain why the teaching and research environment at Wake Forest is a good fit for the candidate. At least two of the letters of recommendation should address the scholarship and/or scholarship potential of the applicant; at least one of the letters of recommendation should address the teaching ability of the applicant.
