The Department of Statistics in the Eberly College of Science seeks to hire an Assistant Director of Online Programs who will work collaboratively with the Director of Online Programs, instructional design staff, and program faculty to design, develop, revise and maintain high-quality online courses. An appointment at the assistant, associate, or full professor (non-tenure track) level is possible, depending on qualifications. This position will involve responsibility in the following areas: Overseeing day-to-day program operations, working with the Director of Online Programs to suggest and adjust program and course enrollments as needed, monitoring program retention and effectiveness, and serving as an advocate for the program with both internal and external audiences; supervising online instructors within the program, coordinating professional development and mentoring program faculty, and coordinating the program’s faculty peer review process; and overseeing a regular revision process for the program’s courses. The opportunity exists to collaborate with the department’s statistics education group in pedagogical research, to further your own independent research, and to teach statistics courses online or in residence. Interest in one or more of these possibilities will be viewed positively. This position requires a minimum of a Ph.D. in statistics, statistics education, or a closely related field plus two or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to work within a schedule, communicate effectively and in a timely manner with administrators, faculty, staff, and students, and collaborate with others. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion, the ability to resolve conflicts, and strong interpersonal skills.
