Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at SUNY Geneseo is seeking applicants for a full time tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin August 2018. The Department of Mathematics (20 full-time members) encompasses both pure and applied mathematics, as well as very strong secondary mathematics teacher preparation, a number of actuarial science offerings, and growing interest in data science. The Department offers the following degrees: B.S. in Applied Mathematics, B.S. in Mathematics, B.A. in Mathematics, B.A. in Mathematics with Adolescence (Secondary Education) Certification, Minor in Mathematics, and Minor in Biomathematics, as well as a Concentration in Mathematics for Elementary Education. Mathematics is the 7th largest major on campus with approximately 300 majors, over 20% of whom are also in the secondary education certification program. Responsibilities of the selected applicant will include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, conducting research/scholarly activity, academic advising, and providing service to the department, campus community, and discipline. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics or PhD in Applied Mathematics by the start date of August 2018.

The search committee anticipates conducting initial interviews via telephone or Skype the first two weeks of November.
