The Department of Mathematics at Bowdoin College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Statistics or Probability, starting Fall 2018.  The position is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third year.  Preference will be given to applicants who appreciate the rich interplay between applied and theoretical statistics and mathematics.


Bowdoin values and supports a strong commitment to research and a promise of successful scholarly engagement as well as a dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment. The regular teaching load is two courses per semester.  The successful candidate will primarily teach introductory level courses in statistics and mathematics and major-level courses in statistics and probability.  A Ph.D. by the time of appointment is preferred.
