Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Analysis

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor beginning August 2018. The department consists of 32 faculty and lecturers and maintains active research groups in Analysis, Algebra & Combinatorics, Computational & Applied Mathematics, and Statistics. The department is also home to about 35 graduate students and maintains lively graduate programs in mathematics and statistics.

UW’s analysis group features expertise in operator theory, harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, probability, and stochastic processes. The department particularly seeks an analyst whose research interests connect to problems in data science, broadly construed. Possible research specialties include (but are not limited to) harmonic analysis, convex analysis & functional analysis, optimization, and theoretical machine learning.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in research, be able to attract research funding, develop her/his own independent research program, work collaboratively with other scientists, and be able to teach a variety of courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics or a closely related field. Candidates with joint degrees and/or interdisciplinary work in areas related to Data Science are particularly welcome to apply.

  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Postdoctoral experience,
  • Interdisciplinary research experience, and
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
