Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Statistics, starting 20 August 2018. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, advising undergraduate students in research, and provide statistical consulting on campus. The teaching load for this position is six courses per academic year. The lecturer position is a 38-week appointment. Summer teaching, with additional compensation, is available.

We seek a motivated individual who will work well with faculty, administrators, and large numbers of students. Applicants should have a PhD in Statistics or a related field, college-level teaching experience, working knowledge of statistics software packages such as R and SAS, working knowledge of a learning management system (preferably Canvas), and excellent teaching credentials. Experience developing online/blended learning materials and consulting experience are desirable.

Michigan Tech, a doctoral research university with an international reputation, is located in Houghton in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula, on the south shore of Lake Superior. The Department of Mathematical Sciences has 35 faculty members with interests in probability and statistics, computational mathematics, combinatorics, algebra, and number theory. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees, enrolling approximately 100 undergraduates and 40 graduate students, and is a key part of the university's interdisciplinary programs in Computational Science and Engineering and in Data Science.
