Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, to begin August 2018. An earned doctorate in mathematics and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are required. The candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of college level mathematics courses including (but not limited to) Algebra, Calculus, and Differential Equations. Ability to teach Physical sciences and to interact with, contribute to, develop and teach interdisciplinary programs (like data science, actuarial science and similar) is positively regarded, but not required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate commitment to an intellectual life consistent with the College’s identity as a Catholic, Benedictine school that aims to provide an excellent undergraduate education “in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified.” Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate a philosophy of teaching and research that fits well with the institutions emphasis on the education of the whole person, and with the approach to education expressed in St. John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
