Mathematical Researcher (Ph.D. Level)

Lakewood, NJ

The Department of Mathematics at Gaming Laboratories International tests and certifies a broad array of products for the gaming and lottery industries using modern programming languages, advanced mathematical modeling, and complex statistical methods. The Mathematical Researcher applies knowledge of probability, statistics, and computer programming to analyze and model high complexity products in all core areas, including electronic games, random number generators, and strategy/skill-based games.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs and reviews mathematical analysis and testing of high complexity products in all core areas.

  • Develops software applications/suites to increase efficiency and accuracy of mathematical modeling and testing.

  • Estimates the cost and timeline of high complexity projects.

  • Contributes to departmental policies and procedures to ensure that current methodology is up to modern standards.

  • Interfaces with clients, regulators, and non-technical groups within GLI regarding mathematical testing results and technical concepts.

  • Communicates with clients regarding project management details, such as designing and developing the scope of testing and acquiring/confirming missing or discrepant information.

  • Assists with training members of the Mathematics department in all core areas.

Experience, Education, Skills and Credentials:

  • PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or other related discipline required.

  • Intermediate/Advanced programming knowledge in C++, Java, Python, or other modern programming language required.

  • Extensive knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts and topics required; particularly, advanced knowledge of Probability and Statistics is expected.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
