The Science and Mathematics Faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic campus at Arizona State University invites applications for up to two Applied Mathematics Instructor position(s) for the 2018-2019 academic year. The successful candidate(s) will teach mathematic courses; work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in order to provide students in those disciplines with a solid set of mathematics, computational, and statistical skills appropriate to their chosen profession. Course assignments are at the graduate/undergraduate levels, and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid) on the Polytechnic campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and typically consist of five classes per semester.  This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive commensurate with experience. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate. 

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics or closely related field at time of appointment
  • Two years’ experience teaching undergraduate level mathematics courses or equivalent courses
  • Evidence of excellent teaching effectiveness
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in Applied Mathematics or closely related field at time of appointment
  • Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities
  • Ability to teach mathematics courses from college algebra to calculus 3, and differential equations/linear algebra
  • Experience working with large data sets and/or technology to teach mathematics courses
  • Experience in course management systems such as Blackboard and online homework systems
  • Experience working in collaborative environments within and across disciplines
  • Demonstrated service to the profession
