The Department of Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Mathematics or Statistics beginning July 1, 2018, subject to budgetary approval.

 

To be considered, an applicant must possess a PhD in an area of the statistical or mathematical sciences, must have an active research program with strong potential for external funding, and must demonstrate superior ability and commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants whose research deals with Statistics and/or Probability and their applications in Data Analysis or Mathematical Modelling will be given priority, but applicants whose research is related to these areas in combination with another of the Department’s areas of focus will also be considered.

 

A complete application package consists of a curriculum vitae, copies of recent publications, a statement of current and prospective research interests, a cover letter that includes a statement addressing teaching experience in statistics, and at least three letters of reference, one of which significantly addresses the teaching ability of the applicant. The Mathematics Department is a dynamic part of the Faculty of Science, with leading researchers in many fields, including interdisciplinary areas. The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Financial Mathematics, an MSc in Mathematics, as well as new interdisciplinary programs in Data Science (BSc) and in Mathematical and Statistical Modelling (PhD).
