Faculty - Mathematics

Bard High School Early College - Queens, a partnership of Bard College and the New York City Department of Education, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in our Mathematics Department beginning fall 2018. BHSEC, a national model in the field of public school reform, enables talented and highly motivated students to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an associate of arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College as well as a high school diploma. Queens is a particularly diverse borough with families hailing from around the world, and BHSEC Queens is a particularly diverse school within the borough. While the vast majority of our students have English as their first language, more than 20 different languages are listed as the home languages for the parents of our students.

The successful candidate will teach four sections of mathematics each semester, which will include both courses in our innovative high school program as well as courses in our college program. All BHSEC Queens faculty also participate actively in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities. The ideal applicant will hold a graduate degree (preferably a Ph.D.) in mathematics or a closely related STEM field, and will have a demonstrated interest in engaging and challenging younger students. Positive consideration will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in working with high-needs students and students from groups underrepresented in STEM fields.

To apply, send a letter of interest (including research interests), curriculum vitae, and a brief (c. 250 word) description of an experience you had as a student or teacher that has influenced your teaching, and 3 contact references through at:

Review of applications will begin immediately and will proceed until the position is filled.

Bard High School Early College Queens is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome applications from those who contribute to our diversity. Women and members of under-represented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
