Math Lab Coordinator Position

POSITION DESCRIPTION The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for a Math Lab Coordinator position, ideally beginning Fall 2018, but the position may start in Spring 2019 or Fall 2019. This Math Lab Coordinator is a 12-month staff position. The Math Lab Coordinator will work closely with the QEP director. Besides supervising all the math labs, the coordinator is responsible for hiring, scheduling, and managing the lab assistants/tutors, assisting with the math placement test, replying student emails, setting up the course quizzes and homework assignments, and coordinating with instructors teaching developmental math classes.   Founded in 1967, AUM is the metropolitan campus of Auburn University and serves a diverse student body of around 5,000 students. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, a master’s degree in computer science, and a master’s degree in computer information systems and cyber security. In addition, the department coordinates a two-year pre-engineering program that prepares students to transfer to an engineering school (usually the main campus of Auburn University).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates must have earned at least a Master’s degree in Mathematics, or a related field and two (2) years of applied experience in mathematics. Experience in teaching mathematics for elementary education, developmental mathematics or credit core courses is a plus. Successful candidates will have a commitment to service at both the departmental and university levels.
