Position Description:

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida invites applications for 4 (four) full-time non-tenure-track lecturer positions to begin on August 16, 2019. The appointments are nine-month, renewable annually. Candidates must have substantial interest in lower level curriculum development. Experience with both live and online teaching formats is a plus. The University’s stated goal is to reduce class sizes across campus and these new positions will allow the Department of Mathematics to support this effort by moving large-lecture courses to smaller, more interactive environments.

This is an exciting time for the University of Florida as it aims to hire 500 new faculty over the next few years. Lecturers play a crucial role in our dynamic instructional enterprise by bringing subject expertise and commitment to excellence in teaching to bear in educating our exceptional undergraduates. In recognition of their importance to the university’s mission, lecturers enjoy significant professional development opportunities, including a well-defined promotion structure, a professional development leave program, and access to travel funds for conference presentations. Summer teaching, both in-person and online, is also available.

Required qualifications include an M.S. (Ph.D. is preferred) in mathematics or a related field with substantial coursework in mathematics (at least 18 credit hours of graduate mathematics courses) and a record of success in curriculum development and innovative teaching. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.

Applications must be submitted online at http://apply.interfolio.com/55277 and must include: (a) a cover letter, (b) a curriculum vitae, (c) a teaching statement, and (d) four confidential letters of recommendation. The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on November 1, 2018, and continue accepting applications until the positions are filled.

All candidates for employment are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks, and verification of education.

The selected candidate will be required to provide an official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Degrees earned from an educational institution outside of the United States require evaluation by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/.

The University of Florida is an equal opportunity institution dedicated to building a broadly diverse and inclusive faculty and staff. Searches are conducted in accordance with Florida's Sunshine Law.
