The Department of Mathematics & Statistics of the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 12-month, full-time, Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in Discrete and Topological Models for Genome Rearrangement to begin no later than August 7th, 2019. Research topics will focus on developing mathematical theories/models and computational studies of DNA recombination, rearrangement, epigenetics, and non-coding RNA. This position is available through a joint project between Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of South Florida (PIs: Professors N. Jonoska and M. Saito) and the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University in New York (PI: Professor L. F. Landweber). A Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences, Computational Biology or a relevant field is required at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with strong training, research experience, publications from the Ph.D., ability to work independently and creatively, and strong written/oral communication skills.

The initial contract is for one year with a possibility of renewal for an additional year(s). The position is open until filled, however, initial review of applications will begin January 15th, 2019.
