The Department of Mathematics at West Virginia University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2019. We seek a mathematician whose research areas align with topology or applied mathematics. The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field; evidence of potential to establish a strong, independent research program in topology or applied mathematics; and ability to provide excellent teaching in mathematics or applied mathematics at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Department of Mathematics includes 24 tenured and tenure-track faculty, two postdoctoral researchers, and about 65 graduate students. West Virginia University is a land grant institution enrolling over 29,000 students and has a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity. The University is located in Morgantown, WV, an award-winning "small" city with a metropolitan population of about 100,000 within easy travel distance of Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.
