Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant/associate professorship in the Department of Mathematics starting August 2019. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in mathematics; have experience teaching at the university level; and identify with one or more of the following AMS subject classifications: 26 (real functions), 28 (measure theory), 30 (complex functions), 32 (several complex variables), 33 (special functions), 42 (harmonic analysis), 43 (abstract harmonic analysis), 44 (integral transforms), 45 (integral equations), 46 (functional analysis), or 47 (operator theory). Candidates must have demonstrable excellence in both teaching and research. Responsibilities include: teaching up to four courses per semester, including service courses; advising majors; and serving on department and university committees.

Preference will be given to candidates who show that they can • provide leadership in the development of undergraduate or graduate research initiatives, • contribute to the development of the Department’s programs, • teach courses in diverse areas of mathematics (including graduate, undergraduate major, and general education courses), and • attract external funding.

Applications must include a cover letter addressing all the bulleted items above; a curriculum vitae; a brief statement of teaching philosophy; a brief research prospectus; all undergraduate and graduate transcripts; and three recent letters of recommendation, with at least one letter addressing, in detail, the candidate’s teaching effectiveness.

Finalists must successfully complete an interview process that includes: (a) a formal interview, (b) a teaching demonstration, and (c) a research talk to the Department’s faculty and upper-level students.
