| Position Description: Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor of Mathematics position requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities and an earned doctorate in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field. The position centers on strengthening the department’s undergraduate program and includes teaching undergraduate courses, producing quality scholarship, a willingness to engage students in research, and performing institutional and professional service. The position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2019.
• Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.
• Demonstrated evidence of commitment to a sustained research program.
• Demonstrated evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated research in actuarial science and/or statistics.
• A demonstrated ability to teach courses in actuarial science and/or statistics.
• Demonstrated evidence of directing individual students’ work in undergraduate research and/or expository experiences. |
