Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the area of applied topology with a particular interest in topological data analysis, beginning on August 16, 2019, with an earlier start date possible. The teaching assignment is 1 course per year, in either the fall semester or the spring semester, and participation in the research activities of the department is expected. Some additional support for travel is possible. A Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or the equivalent is required. Candidates with strong promise in research and teaching are encouraged to apply.

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. The position is being funded by the Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology (SCMB). The contract is renewable yearly, up to a total length of 3 years. Renewal is based on satisfactory performance and meeting expectations in SCMB-funded Seed Project research. In addition to the standard UF postdoctoral evaluation procedures, SCMB will conduct its own annual review in January and expect regular project updates in May and September.

The postdoc is expected to be at Georgia Tech over the summer to participate in project related activities, including a significant time (8-10 weeks) in residence with the Seed Project experimental research group during the first summer of the project.
