Position Description:    

Applications are invited for a lecturer position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte starting August, 2019. This is a nine-month appointment, initially for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal.

This position is in the area of mathematics education and is a joint appointment between the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the College of Education. Duties involve teaching four courses each semester and some service responsibilities. More specifically, these courses will be mathematics and mathematics education courses required for elementary education majors. The service activities include support for departmental grant activities and curriculum development. Required qualifications include a master's degree or equivalent in mathematics or mathematics education, at least three years of K—12 school teaching experience as well as some teaching experience at the college level in the area of mathematics education. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience with methods and content courses for elementary education majors, teaching large classes, and demonstrated commitment to and experience with teaching a diverse student body. In addition, prior involvement in mathematics education grant activities would be preferred. These could include developing curriculum and leading professional development for teachers.
