Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a visiting position in the Department of Mathematics beginning Fall 2019. Position is renewable for up to 3 years on evidence of good teaching, the needs of the department, and administrative approval. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. The successful applicant must possess or be close to completing a doctorate in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Mathematics by July 1, 2019. Excellence in teaching is the primary criterion for selection, with preference given to candidates who demonstrate potential to teach upper-level undergraduate courses in applied mathematics and/or statistics.

Franklin & Marshall College is a small (enrollment 2400), highly-selective liberal arts college emerging as a nationally recognized leader in recruiting and supporting high-achieving students from underserved communities. F&M is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, recently named among U.S. News’ “Best Places to Live in the USA”, about 1.5 hours from Philadelphia and Baltimore. The teaching load is five courses per year, and most mathematics courses meet four hours per week. Visiting faculty members are eligible for modest financial support for research and professional development expenses and are welcome to engage students in undergraduate research. The Department has an established culture of mentoring visiting faculty members.

· teaching evaluations (based on direct observations by students and/or supervisors);

· a graduate transcript (official copies will be required prior to an interview)
