The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Rhodes College invites applications for a one-year position as a visiting assistant professor of mathematics or computer science beginning in August 2019. The department is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with populations historically underrepresented in STEM. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to quality teaching at a liberal arts college. Duties of the position include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, computer science, or both; the teaching load is 3-3. Applicants should hold or expect to receive a Ph.D. in computer science, pure or applied mathematics, or a closely allied discipline by August 2019. We welcome candidates from all areas of scholarly specialization within mathematics and computer science and encourage applications from individuals whose interests go beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.
