The Department of Mathematics at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Professor in Mathematics

The position is available from August 2019.

Aarhus University is an international top-100 university, characterized by excellence in research and teaching. The Department of Mathematics currently employs 31 permanent scientific staff members in the traditional mathematical disciplines and stochastics. The Department is responsible for seven study programs: Bachelor and Master programs in Mathematics, Mathematics-Economics, and Data Science, as well as a Master program in Statistics.

The Department of Mathematics currently houses two Centres of Excellence: QGM, "Centre for Quantum Geometry of Moduli Spaces", housed in the mathematics group and funded by the Danish National Research Foundation, and CSGB, "Centre for Stochastic Geometry and Advanced Bioimaging", housed in the stochastic group and funded by the VILLUM Foundation. In addition, the "Centre for Science Studies" is embedded into the Department of Mathematics.

Furthermore, the Department of Mathematics is a stakeholder in DIGIT, "Centre for Digitalisation, Big Data and Data Analytics", and has formal collaborations with BiRC, "Bioinformatics Research Centre", and CREATES, "Center for Research in Econometric Analysis of Time Series".

The successful candidate should have:

a strong and established international record of excellence in mathematics research.

status as a research leader within her/his field of mathematics.

established record in attracting funding for research projects.

established and strong record in teaching mathematics at all levels, ranging from undergraduate teaching to supervising PhD students.

The successful candidate is expected to:

build and sustain a strong research group around her/his research area through external funding.

through her/his research contributions and activities, raise the international profile of the Department of Mathematics.

contribute to teaching at all levels at the department.

take on responsibility within the department through committee work.

The applicant may upload up to 10 key publications with the application. While the assessment committee will evaluate the overall scientific achievements of all shortlisted candidates, they can only be expected to look into individual scientific results among those contained in publications submitted with the application.
