The Department of Mathematics at Wellesley College invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer for two years, teaching four courses per year, with benefits, beginning in the fall semester of 2019.

Wellesley College is a highly selective liberal arts college for women with 2200 students (http://www.wellesley.edu). Over 40 percent of our students identify as students of color; 10 percent are international students; nearly 60 percent of Wellesley's current students are financial aid recipients; 17 percent will be the first generation in their families to graduate from college. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at teaching and mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences and provide strong evidence of excellence in teaching. Applications should be submitted online through MathJobs and should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a short description of research (written for non-specialists), a statement of teaching interests and experience, and two letters of reference discussing teaching. The cover letter should address the candidate’s interest in developing his/her teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts setting with a diverse student body. Additional documents, such as past student evaluations or a letter of recommendation for research, may be submitted but are not required. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Wellesley College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to increasing the diversity of the college community and the curriculum. Candidates who believe they can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply.

Our beautiful campus is located in the suburbs approximately 15 miles from Boston and Cambridge. Its faculty members have a strong record of research and teaching. Further information about our department can be found at http://www.wellesley.edu/Math/.
