Denison University invites applications for a possible one-year visiting position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, to begin in August 2019. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics or associated area by the start date. We are seeking an energetic and dynamic teacher who can teach a variety of undergraduate Mathematics courses at all levels: introductory, intermediate and upper-level courses. The course load is six courses per year. The salary is competitive with annual professional development funds of $3,000 to support research and teaching.

The department is interested in developing capabilities in statistics, data science, or differential equations, but all areas of specialty are welcome to apply. In their cover letter, candidates should address their qualifications for close interaction between faculty and students in a collaborative setting and their interest in mentoring undergraduate students. Candidates should speak to their ability to contribute to key components of Denison’s mission – to develop autonomous thinkers, discerning moral agents, and active citizens in a democratic society. Successful candidates are encouraged to maintain a productive, ongoing research program. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in both mathematics and computer science. Our department is currently home to 8.5 mathematicians and 6.5 computer scientists.
