The Position
Lewis University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member of Data Science in the Computer and Mathematical Sciences department. This position will start fall 2019 and is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Lewis University serves a diverse student population and community and we invite applications from individuals that embody a commitment to diversity.

Responsibilities include teaching 24 semester hours per year, service, and professional development, broadly defined. The new faculty member will teach and regularly update a variety of courses for our undergraduate and graduate computer science programs. The new faculty member will assist with the program's assessment efforts, including collecting and organizing assessment data. The new faculty member will help the Chair of Computer and Mathematical Sciences identify budget items to keep the data science labs up-to-date. The new faculty member will conduct research projects with undergraduate and graduate students.

The Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences includes Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering. It consists of twenty full-time faculty members serving approximately 300 undergraduate majors and 250 graduate students. Those students pursue a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Computer Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or another related field. The candidate must have a passion for teaching a variety of data science courses to undergraduate and graduate students and to engage in research related to data science. The candidate must be an innovative self-starter willing to design, implement, and teach new courses in data science and to help develop interdisciplinary opportunities between data science and other fields.
