NetMath, an online self-paced distance learning program of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants to fill two positions of either Instructor or Lecturer. Throughout the year, this position would support students in self-paced courses thorough mentoring, responsive and constructive feedback. In addition, the individual in this position would be responsible for the creation of pedagogical materials. The University of Illinois is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. For more information, visit Duties & Responsibilities: • Support up to 50 students at a given time in self-paced courses throughout the year, in addition support online students in summer session in up to two courses. • Mentor and answer questions via electronic correspondence, primarily email. • Grade homework and exams timely with constructive feedback that helps to ensure the successful completion of the student's course. • Responsible for the creation of new homework and exams, with appropriate review of materials by other instructors. • Responsible for the development of additional instructional aids for students in these online courses such as study guides, mini-lectures, concept questions, and practice quizzes. Minimum Qualifications: • Master's degree in mathematics, math education or closely related STEM field for Instructor. Ph.D. in mathematics, math education for Lecturer. • One years’ experience teaching college-level mathematics for Instructor. Two years’ experience teaching college-level mathematics for Lecturer. • Evidence of ability to effectively teach and interact with a diverse group of students at all intellect levels. • Ability to work productively independently as well as in a team environment. • Proficiency with online learning management software and tools such as CAS-ILE, Moodle and Elluminate. Preferred Qualifications: • Ability to teach, mentor and communicate with online students taking senior or advanced level mathematics courses. • A clear philosophy regarding, and experience with, the use of technology in teaching and learning. The Instructor/Lecturer positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track position appointed on a 12-month service basis.
