This is an opportunity to join one of the world’s most prominent and most research-active Departments of Statistics at the Assistant Professor level.

We are looking for an excellent academic in statistics (to be interpreted in the widest sense and to include both applied and methodological statistics, statistical machine learning, data science, probability, probabilistic operational research and mathematical finance together with interdisciplinary topics involving one or more of these areas).

The Department of Statistics is one of the most successful departments in the University of Warwick. Its research spans a broad range of areas in statistical methodology, computational statistics, theoretical and applied probability, finance and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its teaching programmes attract exceptional students at all levels. It comprises around 600 undergraduate students on degree courses in MORSE, Mathematics and Statistics (MathStats) and Data Science and 90 postgraduate students on the MSc Statistics, MSc Financial Mathematics and PhD degree streams. Major strategic initiatives in recent years include the establishment of the Centre for Research in Statistical Methodology (CRiSM) as a catalyst for statistical research, the Applied Statistics & Risk Unit (AS&RU), which promotes and coordinates external partnerships, and the national Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS). The department has close relations with the co-located Mathematics Institute and other departments such as Economics and the Warwick Business School and is strongly engaged with the Alan Turing Institute in London.

You should have a PhD in a relevant discipline or an equivalent qualification.

Informal enquiries can be addressed to Professors Barbel Finkenstadt ( and Gareth Roberts ( or to any other senior member of the Warwick Statistics Department.
