The Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University invites applications for one non-tenure track position as a Teaching Assistant Professor starting August 2020. This position provides an excellent opportunity for mathematicians with a strong interest in developing a long-term career in effective teaching at a major research university. The initial appointment is for three years. Based on overall performance, the position is renewable, and promotions in rank are possible. Primary responsibilities are to teach up to three courses (undergraduate and/or graduate level) per semester and to carry out creative and innovative service and scholarly activity related to teaching. The teaching load could be reduced in a given semester, depending upon service and scholarly activity related to teaching. The position offers the opportunity for continuing participation in the candidate's choice of education projects, such as the creation of on-line courses, curriculum development, course coordination, distance education program, student mentoring etc. Salary for this position will be at the level of a regular tenure track position. Candidates must have a PhD in the mathematical sciences; experience in, and a continued commitment to, effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; and demonstrated potential for effective communication and collaboration.
