The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for two term faculty positions for Academic Year 2019-2020. Rank will depend on terminal degree, and if appropriate stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 26, 2019. Review of submitted materials is guaranteed if the materials are received by May 31, 2019. The search will continue until the position is filled, or until August 1, 2019 whichever comes first.

Applicants should hold a Masters (initial rank: Instructor) or a PhD (initial rank: Professorial Lecturer). Some teaching experience in service level statistics courses is preferred. For one of the positions, some familiarity with the area of Data Science is also preferred, in particular familiarity with the programming language R. The position will require the incumbent to teach 18-21 credits hours per year of mathematics or statistics courses, mostly at the undergraduate level. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
