Applications are invited for one postdoctoral research positions in the Physical Mathematics Lab (PI Pedro Saenz,, starting Fall 2019) within the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We are looking for highly motivated candidates to perform research at the intersection between active matter, fluid mechanics and biophysics. The research will be strongly interdisciplinary: theoretical developments will be guided and constrained by experiments performed in our lab. Candidates with either experimental or theoretical backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in supervising graduate students and fostering collaborations within UNC and farther afield.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment at UNC, surrounded by colleagues from the departments of Mathematics, Applied Physical Sciences, Physics and Bioengineering with common research interests but very diverse skillsets. The postdoctoral fellows will also benefit from working in the Research Triangle, a vibrant area for research.

The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of extension based on performance. The preferred start date is Fall 2019.

A PhD in applied mathematics, engineering, physics, bioengineering or related fields is required.

Experience with experimental or theoretical background is preferred.
