| The Department of Mathematics at NC State University is inviting applications for one postdoctoral position. The applicants must have a PhD in mathematics or a closely related field (e.g., physics, engineering or computer science).
The postdoctoral associate is expected to have a strong background in mathematical analysis, and an interest in machine learning. The postdoc will work with Prof. Ryan Murray on using tools from mathematical analysis to study machine learning problems. One research focus will be on using tools from the calculus of variations, optimal control, and optimal transportation in order to address problems in high-dimensional and robust statistics, as well as reinforcement learning.
The position's anticipated start date is on or after August 16, 2020. The position is for an initial term of one year, with the potential for renewal pending adequate progress and continued availability of funding. The starting 12 month salary is $50,000.
