Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at Western New England University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position anticipated for appointment beginning Fall 2020. We seek candidates who can contribute to curricular offerings in statistics, actuarial science, and/or financial mathematics. Terms and conditions depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The contractual teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Release time for research is possible (subject to budget constraints and teaching needs) through an application process.

 

The Department of Mathematics has 14 full-time faculty members who oversee undergraduate majors in actuarial science, mathematics, and mathematics for elementary and secondary educators; minors in statistics and mathematics; and a master’s in mathematics for teachers. The Department also teaches many courses serving students in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering.

 

The primary qualification for tenure is excellence in teaching, but scholarly activity in the form of peer-reviewed publications is also expected.  Ph.D. in statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline by the time of appointment. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to teaching.
