The University of Edinburgh is making several new appointments in the Mathematical Sciences as part of an ambitious long-term plan for the School of Mathematics. This has included the 2018 expansion into the new £40M Bayes Centre, and a successful bid for the £10M EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Mathematical Modelling, Analysis & Computation (MAC-MIGS, 2019-28). As part of these developments, we are recruiting in Applied and Computational Mathematics to start on 1 July 2020 or earlier by agreement. We are seeking candidates with a track record of high-quality research in areas relating to mathematical modelling and/or computational mathematics. Links to industry or commerce and/or the ability to engage with MAC-MIGS’s industry and multidisciplinary partners are desirable. As well as carrying out high-quality research, the successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and to the development of the MAC-MIGS Centre for Doctoral Training and of our successful MSc programme in Computational Applied Mathematics.

Salary Scale: £41,526 - £49,553 per annum. Very strong and experienced applicants may be appointed to a Readership, for which the salary is £52,559 - £59,135.
