Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Doctorate degree in Statistics or a closely related area. Candidates nearing completion of the degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2020. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of: successful university-level teaching experience in Statistics, including the ability or willingness to teach a variety of classes; willingness to consult with faculty and students; success or potential for conducting scholarly research or grant development in statistics; and a strong interest in working with undergraduates. 


Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who are active in research, who have demonstrated success or potential to contribute to our undergraduate research program, who have experience with curriculum development in Statistics, and can demonstrate competency in modern statistical programming methods. The ideal candidate will share Chico State’s demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, have prior experience working in culturally and socio-economically diverse learning environments, and will contribute to student success through inclusive pedagogy, as well as research and service to the university and surrounding North State communities.


Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching (GE and Major courses), scholarship (research, dissemination, and grants) and service (student advising, committees, etc.). Teaching assignments (12 units/semester) are based upon qualifications of the individual, and the needs of the department.


The Department: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics consists of 21 full time faculty (the majority hired since 2013), 17 full time equivalent lecturers, and around 170 math majors. We offer BS options in Applied Mathematics, General Mathematics, Statistics, and Mathematics Education. We place a high priority on quality teaching and engagement with students, both in and outside the classroom, and we also require and value research and service. We have a highly successful history of supporting undergraduate research through mentoring and with external grants that have led to outstanding outcomes in student-authored publications and presentations of their work.
