The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in mathematics starting in August 2020. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in mathematics, math education, statistics, or a related area and have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the campus community. (ABD applicants will be considered if they can provide evidence that they are near completion of the Ph.D.)  The candidate should be able to teach a wide variety of undergraduate courses and be willing to supervise undergraduate research in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education. The teaching load is 12 hours; teaching assignments typically include a mix of service courses and courses in the math major. Applicants with experience and/or interest in teaching either courses for pre-service teachers or courses in statistics/data science would be especially welcomed. Strong candidates from any area of mathematics are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science currently has six full-time faculty members and is housed in a STEM building that has just completed a $25M expansion and renovation. The college has large programs in most natural sciences and an expanding engineering program. Benedictine supports the recruitment of talented STEM students through the Wangari Maathai STEM Fellows program, which exists to provide a stimulating intellectual environment, research opportunities, and professional development to talented undergraduate students in STEM areas.
